Who we are and who reads WebTechTips

WebTechTips is a UK technology blog that helps readers stay ahead in a fast changing tech world. We publish practical tips, guides and explainers on software, gadgets, AI, web development and cloud computing, written in clear language for readers who want to get something done rather than read about theory.

Our readers include tech enthusiasts, developers, small business owners, students and everyday users who want to use technology better. They value articles that solve a problem, explain a setting, compare options honestly, or teach a skill step by step. If you can write a tip, guide or explainer that a reader can act on straight away, your article will fit here.

We welcome writers, tech professionals, developers, bloggers and industry experts with hands on experience. You do not need to be a professional journalist. You need to know your topic and explain it well.

Topics we accept

We accept original technology guest posts in these categories:

  • Software: software guides, comparisons, workflows and app tips
  • Technology: technology trends, explainers and practical analysis
  • Gadgets: gadget reviews, buying guides and setup advice
  • Artificial Intelligence: AI tools and practical AI guides for everyday users
  • Web Development: coding tutorials, web design and development tips
  • Cloud Computing: cloud services, storage and online tools explained simply

We also accept articles on cybersecurity basics, digital marketing tools, SEO and online productivity, provided they are practical and written for our readers rather than for promotion.

Topics in demand right now

Last updated: 31 October 2026. These are the topics our editors are actively looking for this month:

  • Step by step software guides that fix one common problem properly
  • Honest gadget comparisons for UK readers, with UK prices and availability
  • Practical AI guides for beginners: what to use, what to avoid, and why
  • Web development tutorials with working examples, not just theory
  • Cloud storage and backup guides for home users and small teams

If your pitch covers one of these topics, say so in your subject line. It helps us review your pitch faster.

Guest post guidelines

Rule Requirement
Originality 100 percent original and unpublished. We do not accept articles published anywhere else, including your own blog.
Minimum length 800 words. Practical guides and tutorials of 1,200 words or more are preferred.
Human written AI assistance is allowed for research and outlining, but the article itself must be human written, fact checked and written from real understanding. Fully AI generated drafts are rejected.
Accuracy Check every fact, setting, price and step. Test any tutorial yourself before submitting it.
Structure Use subheadings, short paragraphs and bullet points where they help. Start with the answer or the main point, then explain it.
Images Supply a featured image of 1200 by 630 pixels, original or properly licensed, with credit where required. Screenshots you took yourself are welcome.
Links One contextual dofollow link plus one link in your author bio, at editorial discretion. No affiliate links and no links in the first paragraph.
Author bio 40 to 60 words, with one link to your website or professional profile.
Editing We edit for clarity, accuracy, grammar and style. We may adjust titles and headings for search and readability.

What we do not accept

  • Articles published elsewhere, spun content, or content copied from another source
  • Casino, adult, gambling, CBD, crypto promotion, or payday loan content
  • Press releases, link building articles with no reader value, or thin listicles
  • Tutorials you have not tested yourself
  • Medical, legal or high stakes financial advice
  • Articles that make unverified claims about rankings, traffic or results

Our dofollow link policy

Each accepted article may include one contextual dofollow link where it genuinely helps the reader, plus one dofollow link in the author bio. Links must point to relevant, high quality pages. We do not accept affiliate links, links to low quality sites, or links inserted only for promotion. Final link placement is at editorial discretion, and we may remove any link that does not serve the reader.

How to submit: step by step

  1. Pitch first. Email your proposed title, a short summary of the angle, and one line about your experience with the topic. Do not send a full draft before approval.
  2. Wait for our reply. We review every pitch and reply within 48 hours. If your topic is approved, we confirm the agreed length and deadline.
  3. Write the draft. Follow the guidelines table above. Send the draft as a Google Doc or Word document, with your author bio and featured image.
  4. Editing. We edit for clarity and accuracy and may ask you to fix steps, facts or sections.
  5. Publication. Approved articles go live within 7 days of approval. We share the live URL with you and promote the article on our social channels.

What a weak pitch looks like, and what a strong one looks like

Weak pitch example: “Hi, I want to write a guest post about technology for your website. I can write about anything you need.” This pitch fails because it names no topic, no angle and no evidence that the writer knows the subject.

Strong pitch example: “Guest Post Pitch: How to stop Chrome opening on startup in Windows 11, tested on 3 PCs. I support small office IT setups and see this question weekly. The guide will cover the 4 places startup apps hide, with screenshots for each step.” This pitch works because it states a specific problem, real experience and a clear reader benefit.

How we edit your article

Every accepted draft goes through a full editorial check before publication. We check facts against credible sources, test any steps in a tutorial, and read the article as a reader would: does it answer the question it promises, in order, without gaps? We tighten long sentences, fix grammar, and adjust headings so the article is easy to scan and easy to find in search.

We may change the title or subheadings to match what readers actually search for, and we may add internal links to related articles on WebTechTips so readers can go deeper. For tutorial articles, we retest the steps ourselves wherever possible, because a guide that fails on step three helps nobody. We never change the meaning of your article, and we never add claims you did not make. If an edit affects a factual point, we check it with you first.

What you get as a contributor

  • A byline and author bio on a published technology article
  • One contextual dofollow link plus one bio link, at editorial discretion
  • A permanent article URL that stays live
  • Social promotion when your article is published
  • A published sample for your writing portfolio

Submit your pitch

Email your pitch to britadavin@gmail.com or ellenstevensone@gmail.com with the subject line “Guest Post Pitch: [Your Topic]”. Include your proposed title, a two or three sentence summary, one line about your experience with the topic, and a link to one previous writing sample. Pitches that follow this format are reviewed first.
